East Somerton

Off black, distressed oak, white and light.

The brief enabled us to take full advantage of the opportunities a conversion from an old school in the country provided – open plan living, masses of natural light with the kitchen at it’s heart, surrounded by stunning views on all sides.

Simple Shaker design throughout complimented by bespoke banquette seating, our unique design collaboration with the client enabled a truly custom build.

An oak island finished with Osmo Graphite oil – open shelving on one side and four deep pan drawers on the other, a solid brass towel rail, Unistone Carrera Misterio quartzstone worktops and a Neff induction hob.

Base units – made in house from oak veneered poplar ply, the tulipwood fascias and maple doors are traditionally mortised and tenoned.  Drawers are dovetailed oak on concealed soft-close runners.

Painted units are Farrow & Ball off black with door handles by Jim Lawrence. The sink is a Farmhouse Double Bowl 800 with an instant hot water tap from local Norfolk makers Qettle.

A suspended wall to wall bookcase divides the mezzanine bedroom from the rest of the living space, accessed with a custom built wooden library ladder running on a solid brass rail.
